Marie Sotelo

My passion for yoga began in 2008 as I came to the mat to find relief from chronic lower back pain and a high-stress job in the law. It has been a foundational part of my fitness and wellness practice and my spiritual walk since then. Ten years and three states later, I found myself in Chico where I was fortunate to receive my 200 HR YTT certification during the inaugural teacher training at Chico Hot Yoga Studio under Tatiana Echevarria and Zuri Osterholt. I am also grateful to my Tucson Yoga Home, Yoga Oasis, and its many teachers, to include Darren Rhodes, Bruce Bowditch and Stephani Lindsey, under whose tutelage I formed a grounded and informed yoga practice. I strive to inspire and motivate my students to be their best selves, both on and off the mat. My classes are playful and energetic, yet grounded and place a strong emphasis on precise cues, movement to breath, and alignment principles. I love to bring creative and inventive sequencing and an eclectic and energizing mix of music to my classes. Outside of the studio, I spend my time as a grant writer and non-profit consultant and enjoy spending time with my husband, five-year old son, two dogs, and four chickens.
